Rev. Jesse Jackson's Rainbow PUSH Coalition which he founded in 1971 is still fighting for the principles of justice and equality that the organizations was founded on. Its latest campaign has been in support of corporate inclusion of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

In mid-2025, Rainbow PUSH stood in solidarity with various grassroots and civil rights organizations who protested against workplace inequality. The coalition specifically criticized the Target Corporation, for its scaling back on its promise to protect women and minorities in the workplace and getting rid of its DEI program. Rainbow PUSH joined leaders like Rev. Jamal Bryant of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, GA in their boycott against Target. Pastor Bryant has urged DEI supporters to not patronize the franchise until it makes good on its promises to invest in Black Businesses and reinstate DEI commitments at all corporate levels. According to Rainbow PUSH, "corporate commitments to diversity are essential to economic fairness and opportunity."

Based in Chicago, the coalition is heavily connected to its community. It regularly hosts events aimed at uplifting the poor and children through its Back-to-School block parties, and resources on educational equity and financial literacy. By aligning itself with the needs of the community, the coalition demonstrates how important it is to protect and provide for undeserved.

Though Rainbow PUSH which once operated as separate entities (Operation PUSH, 1971 and the National Rainbow Coalition, 1984) has evolved, the 1996 merger of the two has remained faithful to Rev. Jackson's mission of promoting civil rights, economic opportunity, and social equality through public advocacy and community-based action.

Rev. Jesse Jackson passed on February 17, 2026 due to a battle with a rare neurological condition called progressive supernucler palsy (PSP). His organization remains true to Rev. Jackson's famous mantra, "Keep hope alive."
